Two of the world’s heavyweight pole vault competitors will battle it out for bragging rights at the former Olympic stadium. Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie and Canadian Shawnacy Barber will both appear as they renew their rivalry from last year.
The event will be one of the highlights of the Friday night action at the Müller Anniversary Games.
World record holder Lavillenie came out the victor on that occasion producing a meeting record clearance of 6.03m which proved too much for Barber who set a career best 5.93m but was unable to go any higher.
Since that meeting Barber has claimed his first senior major championship title last year at the Beijing World Championships. He cleared a height of 5.90m in the process, beating Olympic champion Lavillenie who could only muster 5.80m in a tie for Bronze.
The Muller Anniversary Games will present the perfect opportunity for both men to measure their current form against each other before clashing at the Rio Olympics.
