Japan’s reigning world champion Haruka Kitaguchi will headline the women’s javelin competition at the London Athletics Meet on Saturday 20 July, adding more global medallists to the stellar line up.
Kitaguchi moved from fourth to first on her final throw to take the World Athletics Championships title last summer in Hungary, and she will be looking for another encouraging performance as she heads into the Olympic Games.
Following a superb 2023 season in which she through a personal best and national record of 67.38m, she also completed the year with her first Diamond League Final victory in Oregon.
This will be Kitaguchi’s first time competing in London, and her first time throwing in the UK.
The London Athletics Meet – which will see the return of the world’s best athletes to the London Stadium following a record-breaking sell-out in 2023 – is the tenth meeting of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League series. Taking place six days before the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, the event will serve as the perfect prelude to Paris.
Tickets to the 2024 London Athletics Meet start from £23 for adults, £5 for juniors and are on track to sell-out in record time. Secure your place to the world’s biggest one day athletics meet at https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/35005F106C4B097B
